I go nuts for donuts!

Los Alamitos Donuts
Located in Los Alamitos, CA on the corner of Cerritos and Los Al blvd.

Now this looks like your typical donut shop but to me it is far from it! I would eat here every morning if it wouldn't end up giving me diabetes by the end of the first week. This place has all the original donut shop favorites and so much more.  I feel like people never give places like this a chance, because it doesn't look like your fancier Dunkin Donuts or have an espresso machine or anything "gluten free" *gag* etc...But these really are the places to go people and this place ESPECIALLY! I truly believe that making donuts is an art, not just anyone can make a good donut. The owner and his wife come in at the ass crack of dawn, seven days a week and create these delectable treats better than any high class pastry chef, ever could.  This shop has to be one of the cleanest, freshest shops, I have ever experienced and I highly recommend it to people in the Southern California area.

This is Mike, the owner, he is the coolest.

mmm mm mmmm

oh round cake sprinkle donuts, how I adore theeeeee.
What makes this place extraordinary is it's large selection and flavors, not only of donuts but of their signature specialties. They have so many different kinds of croissants/pastries that are out of this world, ranging from traditional flavors to jalapeno ham and cheddar croissants, cream cheese and fruit filled and the list goes on.  Two of my favorites that I always get from here, are their turkey and cheese croissant and their version of a pig in a blanket, warmed up of course ;) (photos and descriptions below)Seriously, these items are to die for and are super affordable as well.  I always have to have a savory and a sweet, so my tab usually includes these few things (just for an example):

Small coffee
Orange juice (if I'm feeling special n_n)
Donut
Turkey and cheese croissant (or) Pig in a blanket...

and I never...NEVER...pay more than 4 dollars for everything.

UH-MAZING.
The turkey and cheese filled croissant

Filled with oven roasted turkey and gooey swiss cheese.

I hope everyone who can, takes my advice and checks this place out. You will be so happy you did...Trust Me!

HELLO & WELCOME!

Mise en Place; [MEEZ ahn plahs]
is a culinary term meaning 'Everything in its Place' (all the ingredients to complete a recipe)

Hello everyone! My name is Fatima, and I am going to be sharing with you all, so many fun and zestful things that I learn and experience in the world of FOOD. I am currently attending an incredible culinary program at Laguna Culinary Arts in Laguna Beach, CA and it has only worsened my already freakish obsession with everything edible. I'm going to be taking you through my adventure through school, sharing recipes that I learn and ones I create myself, and my restaurant experiences from gourmet to ‘hole in the wall’ fast food. Oh and sometimes random stories about my life and other things I enjoy. n_n  I hope that everyone who visits, has fun and is entertained!

P.S. I deeply apologize for my terrible grammar. I have a habit of writing how I speak(thanks to Facebook) and... well... that is why I am training to be a chef and not an English professor.
